The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) has conducted its second-largest immigration draw of 2025, inviting 160 skilled workers and international graduates to apply for permanent residency through the Labour Impact and Express Entry streams.
This latest draw, held on October 17, 2025, reflects the province’s continued efforts to attract qualified professionals who are already contributing to Prince Edward Island’s labour market particularly in healthcare, skilled trades, and manufacturing sectors.
According to the PEI Office of Immigration, the province is focusing its 2025 nomination efforts on candidates who can directly support its economic and labour market needs.
As of October 26, 2025, the province has issued a total of 1,081 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) through its PNP draws this year.
| Draw Category | Number of Invitations Issued |
|---|---|
| Labour Impact & Express Entry Streams | 160 |
This makes it the second-largest PEI draw of 2025, surpassing most previous rounds by invitation volume.
Candidates considered for this draw were primarily:
Skilled professionals currently living and working in Prince Edward Island, and
International student graduates from select educational institutions, including:
University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI)
Holland College
Collège de l’Île
Due to the province’s limited nomination spaces and the increasing number of applications, PEI continues to prioritize candidates employed in key economic sectors, while limiting invitations to lower-demand industries such as retail and hospitality.
For this year, the PEI PNP is giving preference to individuals working in:
🏥 Healthcare – nurses, medical technicians, and healthcare aides
🔧 Skilled Trades – electricians, plumbers, welders, and mechanics
🏭 Manufacturing – production operators, industrial workers, and maintenance specialists
These priority streams align with PEI’s long-term goal of addressing critical labour shortages and ensuring economic sustainability in essential industries.
To be considered for a provincial nomination, foreign nationals must first create an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile through the PEI PNP portal.
Create an EOI Profile – Candidates express interest in one or more streams (Labour Impact or Express Entry).
Ranking System – Profiles are scored based on key factors such as education, work experience, and language proficiency.
Receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) – High-ranking candidates are invited to submit a complete application for provincial nomination.
Provincial Nomination – Once nominated, candidates receive 600 additional CRS points under Canada’s Express Entry system, greatly improving their chances of receiving a federal invitation for permanent residency.
The PEI PNP evaluates candidates based on a variety of factors including:
English or French language proficiency (IELTS / TEF results)
Education level, discipline, and country of study
Relevant skills and work experience
Alignment with PEI’s strategic labour market priorities
Job offer from a PEI employer or prior Canadian work experience
The province may also consider adaptability, community involvement, and long-term settlement plans when selecting candidates for nomination.
